Alethea Spiridon It started early.

An editor in the old sense.
And the new sense too.

I've written fiction and nonfiction books, plays, poems, broadcast scripts, magazine journalism, financial reporting, ad copy, comedy sketches, white papers, playbooks, newsletters, and web content. I have a fiction novel and a nonfiction essay currently out on submission. My poetry has been published in journals and anthologies. My short film played on Vimeo. Nearly 100 articles carry my byline across Canadian publications.

I've edited works that became bestsellers and shaped writers who didn't yet know how good they could be. The professional career — 13 years as Editorial Director at a book publisher, managing editor roles at financial and trade publications, content operations built from the ground up — was built on top of a creative life, not instead of one.

I also build the systems that make content work at scale. I moved a content operation from six months behind schedule to six months ahead in two years. The operational precision and the literary sensibility are not in conflict. They make each other better.

I'm drawn to questions of language, power, and belonging. Words shape what we notice, what we remember, and what we allow to endure.

"I take this opportunity to sincerely express my admiration for your editorial talent, your dedication, non-conformism, and unconventional creativity."

01

Write

Novels and nonfiction. Poetry and plays. Broadcast and film scripts. Magazine journalism across optical care, veterinary, health, finance, and editing. Ad copy. Web content. Newsletters. White papers. Playbooks. Comedy sketches. Whatever the brief demands — with a point of view, a sense of rhythm, and the discipline to make every word earn its place.

02

Edit

Substantive, structural, line, copy, and developmental editing across every format. I can read a draft and tell you what it's actually about — including the parts the writer hadn't realized yet. I improve structure, clarity, and narrative, not just mechanics. I make the work better without erasing the person who made it.

03

Lead

Editorial calendars, content operations, AI-enabled workflows, freelance rosters, brand voice standards, intake and prioritization systems. Moved a content operation from six months behind schedule to six months ahead in two years. The romantic part and the operational part make each other better.

The professional record.

The formation.
